Armored Core

The new Armored Core video game from Ubisoft has some of the best mech animation I've seen in a while. A great example of how video game companies are quickly catching up to feature films in their quality.

The OG Rockin' Robo Video - Herbie Hancock

Back when MTV was known for playing actual music videos, this Herbie Hancock video was getting heavy rotation for it's originality and funky beat.

"Rockit" was released as a single in 1983 and is one of the first songs ever to feature scratching and other turntablist techniques. The single was a major radio hit in the United Kingdom but more of an underground hit in the United States.

The video was directed by duo Godley & Creme and features robot-like sculptures (by Jim Whiting) moving in time to the music. The video garnered five MTV Video Music Awards in 1984, including Best Concept Video and Best Special Effects.

Always a classic!

Techno Robot Video

Just a fun little mix of robot footage (fictional and non-fictional) put to a beat.

wipEout HD - techno racing wonderland

The WipEout HD video game does not feature any robots, but it does revolve around a futuristic city of ultra-cool racing vehicles and technology! The citiscape environment reflect a high-tech future wonderland, and one can only imagine robots would be a big part of this world. In any case, this is definatley a fitting video for the world of mechtronica!

The soundtrack to this racing game features music by Kraftwerk, Mason, Noisia, Mist, Stanton Warriors, Booka Shade, DJ Fresh, Ed Rush and others. These totally groovin' and energetic beats serve as the perfect soundtrack to this high-tech racing game.

Check out the video and you will see what I mean. Ultra-cool!
